On the occasion of Barcelona's bid to host the Deaflympics 2017, the Catalan Federation of Sports for the Deaf translates into English the contents of its website with the intention of making them more accessible to not Spanish-speaking deaf people.
For the time being, we will only update the news published on the homepage, later we will translate the other sections.
We hope so, open a new path for all international clubs and federations in order to improve our relationships and establish closer links with all deaf people, whatever their origin countries are.
IVAN TIBAU SENTS A MESSAGE OF CALMNESS
3/03/2011 - The General Secretary of Sports, Mr. Ivan Tibau, held a meeting with all the Catalan Sports Federations on February 24th.
He expressed the commitment of the Government in supporting the activity of all the federations despite the complicated economical situation that Catalan sports are now living, and sent a message of "calmness" saying that the Government is working hard to improve the situation urgently.
Finally, Mr. Ivan Tibau took advantage of this first contact with the Catalan Sports Federations to introduce the new management team that will accompany him during this term of office.

22/02/2011 - The Catan Federation of Sports for the Deaf has two new links availables for you. The first one goes to the facebook page of Barcelona 2017 and the another one goes to the official page of the ICSD where you can find the latest news.
We will continue informing you about all the news and events about Barcelona's bid to host the Deaflympics 2017.
14/02/2011 - As published in the official website of the ICSD, the 17th Winter Deaflympics have been officially cancelled. The 43 Congress of the ICSD, where the candidacies of Barcelona and Buenos Aires to host the 23rd Summer Deaflympics were going to be presented, was postponed until a new date.
ICSD Executive Board has requested an urgent meeting with the President of the Commission for the Winter Deaflympics in Slovakia, Mr. Jaromir Ruda, to clarify the matter.

07/02/2011 -This is the logo of Barcelona’s bid to host the 23rd Deaflympics 2017. On February 18th 2011, the 104 members of the ICSD will vote to decide which city is going to be the winner, Barcelona or Buenos Aires.

05/02/2011 - On February 3rd 2011, the Catalan Federation of Sports for the Deaf together with members of the Working Committee that will assist to Visoke Tatry (Slovakia) on February 18th 2011 to defend the nomination of Barcelona to host de DEAFLYMPICS 2017, went to the Barcelona City Hall to record some greetings and support messages in order to promote the accommodation of the Deaflympics.
The Mayor of Barcelona, Mr. JordiHereu and the City Councillor for Sports, Mr.PereAlcober dedicated a few words of support that were recorded by Webvisual for their inclusion in the 43rd Congress
12/01/2011 - On 11 January at 12.30 hours has taken place in the Hall of Barcelona City Council the official presentation to the press of Barcelona's bid to host the Deaflympics 2017 (Olympic Games for the Deaf).

In the presentation ceremony were present, pictured left to right, Mr. David Lanesman, vice president of the International Committee of Sports for the Deaf (ICSD), Mr. Craig A. Crowley, president of the ICSD, Ms. Cinta Sánchez, vice president of the Spanish Federation of Sports for the Deaf (FEDS), Mr. Antonio Montalvo deputy general director of the Spanish Higher Sports Council, Mr. Gabriel Arranz director of Promotion and Sports Events of the Barcelona City Council, Mr. Eduard Reñé, technical representative advisor of sports of the Barcelona City Council, Mr. Benet Muñoz, president of the Catalan Federation of Sports for the Deaf (FESC), Mr. Antonio Martinez, president of the Catalan Deaf people Federation (FESOCA), Mr. Marc Caballé, projects coordinator of Summa Sports, and Mr. Sebastià Montesinos general secretary of the FESC.
The presentation of the candidacy is part of the visit that during these days made the delegation of the ICSD, Mr. Craig Crowley (president) and Mr.David Lanesman (vice president) in order to know the sporting areas and the sports facilities where competitions will take place.
Next February, the Nomination Committee of the ICSD intends to present the city of Barcelona as an official candidate to host the Deaflympics 2017 in the 43rd International Congress of Sports for the Deaf in Visoke Tatry (Slovakia) where Winter Games for the Deaf are going to take place.
